PicoSure Laser Tattoo Removal - Aftercare Treatment for Patients

If you've had your tattoos removed using the PicoSure™ tattoo removal method, you will want to take the proper care to ensure a fast and effective healing period.

Initially the area may feel warm similar to a sunburn for about six hours after being treated.  You can use a cold compress or ice on the area for about 20 minutes every 20 minutes for up to four to six hours after the procedure. 

You can do this until the discomfort dissipates.

You will want to gently wash down the area using Cetaphil soap and regular water, and then pat dry gently with a clean gauze pad.  Next apply Aquaphor, Vaseline or Crisco vegetable oil and a Telfa bandage.  Do this three times a day for 5 days, or until the area heals.

Stay away from soaking the area in a bathtub, Jacuzzi or swimming pool until the area is healed which should be within 3 to 5 days.  Don’t shave as this will cause additional irritation if a scab has developed.  It is okay to take a shower or use running water over the area. 

Once the area is healed, use a sunscreen every day until your follow up visit which is usually within 6 to 8 weeks.  Avoid exercising to keep perspiration from interfering with the healing process for 3 to 5 days or until healing is evident. If you notice a fever, discharge, severe pain or other symptoms, contact your treatment professional.
